Cutest booth lady ever! |
This, my friends, is what we call a cankle. |
I had chosen a day but due to baby girls strange sleep schedule that say I had to change plans. My boy was so tolerant of the change that when I was presented with the opportunity to take only him I jumped at the opportunity. Since school started I have gotten lots of special time with my youngest, and I love that, but my eldest seems to really be missing spending time with me.
We got there really early and the pony ride and petting zoo that I thought would be the highlight of our visit weren't open. The exhibit halls were all open so we started there. We saw a 90 lb pumpkin, some amazing antique toys, pictures that kids his age had submitted, and the children's mural that was there for kids to come through and color on. I was surprised that he was so interested in the exhibits.
After that we went to the agriculture building where they had a functioning cotton gin, a simulated combine ride where my sweet boy got to sit in an actual combine cab, and a "Thank a Farmer Magic Show" in which he got to help make sugar disappear. My magical boy!
Once we were finished with all that we went to the Trade Hall because I had seen these great kids sized cowboy hats at the booth across from me and I knew he would love to have one. You should have seen him. He was bouncing around giggling with joy. The lady who sold us the hate said he was the cutest thing she had seen. He has been wearing it every where we go for half a week.
Then we had some fair food and were not disappointed. We got some freshly made, shaken not stirred, lemonade that was amazing! Then we grabbed a funnel cake and that pint sized boy at almost the entire thing. I don't know where he puts it.
By the end of the afternoon he was pretty worn out, it was getting hot, and we felt like we should get back to our little girl. We topped off the whole trip with a ride on Daddy's shoulders. The perfect end to a great day.
Oh and here is the obligatory "I was there too" photo. Not my best but I'm trying to be more present in our family photos and I had been wandering around outside for several hours so I should give myself a break.
